Philadelphia was released on VHS on June 29, 1994 and on DVD on September 10, 1997. Philadelphia was later released on Blu-Ray on May 14, 2013. To celebrate Philadelphia's 25th anniversary, the film was released on 4K UHD Blu-Ray on November 27, 2018. The screenplay was also republished in a novelization by writer Christopher Davis in 1994.

I don't believe anyone cannot be moved to tears by this after watching the film. Apart from this gorgeous aria, the music on the album is fabulous - yet I had not been aware of it whilst watching the heart breaking film. More than a decade after AIDS was first identified as a disease, "Philadelphia" marks the first time Hollywood has risked a big-budget film on the subject. No points for timeliness here; made-for-TV docudramas and the independent film "Longtime Companion" have already explored the subject, and "Philadelphia" breaks no new dramatic ground.
